Do you find that living in the South?

More women are given preference over men for administrative/clerical work? Even men co-workers doing the heavy lifting, or the dirty task that arises not covered under the job description? (based on 25 years of job hunting in Dalton GA)

we have a local workforce of maybe 40,000 or more people. You can not walk into ONE credit department or customer service department that employs 20 or more people, and see less than 90% women.

I have over 10 years experience, INCLUDING I was an Army company clerk, to be passed over for switchboard by a young female with very little experience while I was placed in a job on a spot welder. Its not just me, its the entire locality. I spoke with one super that was a leader at a quasi-religious operated business and he said, Son, I know how it may sound, but we choose to do the heavy work, while allowing or wives work in the cleaner cooler environment.

How does Dalton GA operate this way, without feeling the wrath of the DOL, the federal government, or someone rising against?
Nah, I really did not need a link to yet another job blog.

And I really do not see where a woman that can come in late, take a two hour lunch, leave early and still have time to read a newspaper on her job is a slave. Many of the women in offices around here work steadly. but somewhere near half of them dont have half a days work all day long.
By federal law I do not have to deal with an industry practice that hires gender specific, especially when that particular gender broke that barrier down years ago. I did not create an unfair job market, I merely seek work.

The DOL are not worth much in this area for producing jobs, although the DO give referals, after you draw and take their little speach they get paid to give it pretty much dies there. Like any legitamate complaint you make including failure to pay, and harassment.

Either suck it up or apply at an employment agency and have them find you a more gender equal job. Until then, deal with it. If you go around with a chip on your shoulder you will never succeed and never be happy.

It’s not always clear how to go about looking for a job, I was in a bit of a hole recently when I was job hunting, until I unearthed the resource in the box below that presents sensible instruction. I soon got myself going down the proper path, and in a few weeks after a couple of interviews I scored a really excellent job.

There’s a lot of slaves in the south. Most of them are women these days.
