Business Ethics Success Story: Mentor Graphics

The 2006 Oregon Ethics In Business Awards honored Mentor Graphics for their outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, along with their superior ethical business practices.

The OEIB awards are presented by Samaritan Counseling Center, The Business Journal, Portland Downtown Rotary Club, the Willamette University MBA, and are supported by a wealth of sponsors.

On the topic of ethics. The rats are jumping ship.

CHEMRISK - a research company hired by the Corn Refiners ociation has recently taken down it’s YouTube channel.

The removal was in response to negative public perception resulting from the discovery of dangerous levels of MERCURY in HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. Apparently it has become a liability to defend the sweetener.

pierre23ca, I agree with you. I’ve quit many jobs in the private sector, due to serious company ethics issues. It’s certainly not easy; and not something I can explain to my family.

This video amuses. …
This video amuses. There is no such thing as business ethics. I am Pierre Johnson and work as a Venture Catalyst at Pier 23 in California. It is more profitable for me to treat my customers poorly even to cheat them (without thier knowledge of course) than it is to kowtow to them. My point is that ‘ethical business’ is not always relevant to maximizing profit (the goal of business) in populous areas as there are new customers around every corner. And I would rather be rich than fair.
