Why are my female rabbits doing "their business" in their food dish?
It drives me nuts and is just disgusting & I know it can’t be healthy.
Rabbits will mark their territory and mark their dish as their own as if they are saying that food is theirs.
In the wild rabbits mark all around their area and will even urinate and poo on the food they are eating.
I suggest you buy stainless steel 6 inch feeding bowls with holders that you can hook onto the side of the cage at a height that the rabbits cannot soil their dishes. You will find these in the parrot section of your pet store
I also suggest that if you haven’t already done so, get your doe’s spayed. This way you can toilet train them in litter trays. un neutered rabbits do have a habit of coming out of their good training habits.
